Obituary of Michael G. Cunningham

Michael (Mike) Gene Cunningham left this life in the early evening hours on January 15, 2013. He leaves in sorrow his parents, Alfred and Lois Cunningham of Edgar Springs; two children, Corey Edward and Christen Bernice both of Bourbon; four brothers, Kenny (Kari) Cunningham of Licking, Joseph (JoJo) and James Cunningham both of Edgar Springs, and Joseph Flores of Fruitland, Missouri; two nieces, Destiny Nicole and Jessica Jean-Marie Cunningham of Licking; nephew, Adam Wayne Cunningham of Licking; numerous Aunts, Uncles, cousins, and many, many friends including his close confidant and special friend Jane Mentola. Mike worked most of his life fixing up some old car. He spent 12 years or more at TomCo Metals as a faithful employee and friend. He would come in most weekends from the city to just “hang out” with his friends and help with whatever was needed. He never really left TomCo… Josie just would not allow it. He was a family man, never married; Mike did have two children that he loved beyond life itself. He was devoted in his love for Cory and Bernice. He even believed he was a stern father. No one else of course believed it, but it was important that Mike did. Whenever there was a layoff at TomCo, Mike would say, “Josie, keep my brother—because he has 3 kids and a wife, don’t worry about me, I will be just fine.” He loved his brothers and they loved him! JoJo always said, “I want to grow up and be just like my brother Mike.” Mike was the backbone of his family. Along with Kenny, Lois, and Alfred they survived heartache and separations. They are truly what every family should be, loyal to each other and loving to everyone. We all pray for your soul Mike and we hold in our arms the family you leave behind.
