Glen Edwin Jeffries was born in Bucyrus, MO on July 23, 1929 to Jess Jeffries and Minnie (Biram) Jeffries. Glen went to be with the Lord on November 5, 2015 while hospitalized at Cox South Hospital, Springfield MO at the age of 86 years and 3 months.
Glen joined the United States Marine Corp in 1951 and was a Korean War Veteran. During his tour in Korea Glen was one of the many wounded. While serving his country, Glen received several medals including the Korean Service Medal with 2 Stars, United Nations Medal, National Defense Service Medal and the Purple Heart Medal. Glen not only served his country but also became a servant of our Lord and Savior when he accepted Jesus Christ as his savior while stationed in Korea.
Glen attended Licking High School and started working summers at the young age of 16 in the wheat fields of Kansas. He then worked at the Fort Leonard Wood Post Exchange. Glen worked several years in the construction of new homes for McDonald Construction and Hathaway Homes, St. Louis MO and Lonnie Sullins Construction, Licking MO. Glen retired from Rawlings in Licking, MO.
Glen was a long time resident of Licking, Missouri. Glen graciously cared for his parents on their family farm for several years before moving to town where he resided until his health would not allow.
Glen enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, auctions, bingo and sports. He was a faithful Cardinal’s fan. Most importantly, Glen was one who put his family first in all he did. He loved spending time with his family and helping those in need. Glen was always offering a helping hand even when not physically able to.
Glen spent his last days suffering from Alzheimer’s losing a lot of his memories. He is now reunited with loved ones with a perfect mind and body.
Glen is preceded in death by his parents, Jess and Minnie Jeffries; sister, Leota Mitchell; nephews, Lonnie Sullins, Steven Jeffries and Lynn Jeffries; nieces, Bonnie Sue (Sullins) Smith and Kelly (Conant) Nelson.
