So sorry to hear of your dear mother's passing. I have many fond memories of spending the night with Tammy at your home. (the little house near the school!) Tammy, you were my first real friend when I was a child. Your mother always seemed to have "the more, the merrier" attitude and made me feel so welcome. Verna started as my mentor and quickly became my dear friend. She invested her talents and friendship in me and for that I am grateful. When we first opened our family florist shop, she spent countless evening hours, showing us the "ropes." After my husband became very ill and could no longer run our florist, she once asked me when I wanted her to open up our shop and run it for us.. and how to operate the register. I then told her that we couldn't afford to hire extra help. In true Verna fashion, she smacked me on the shoulder and said "I didn't ask what you can afford, I asked when you wanted me to come in. Now give me the key, silly girl." I will forever miss my friend, mentor and our entertaining phone conversations and I thank God for her generosity. She invested so much of herself in me when she didn't have to...The only thing bigger than her personality, was her heart. God bless you, Miss Verna!

We are so sorry about Verna. She was one of a kind. We loved being able to talk about the Cardinals with Verna. Darrell called her about every morning after they had played the night before, to get Verna's opinion of the game. She was multitalented, and was able to design a beautiful flower arrangement or to make a yummy blackberry cobbler. She had a big personality and a big heart. We are praying for Jim and for all of your family.
