Obituary of Roberta Lucille Dixon
Please share a memory of Roberta to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Roberta Lucille Dixon was born February 2, 1927 in Hannibal, Missouri to Ray and Sarah Edna (Tawney) Stewart. She passed away on November 21, 2014 at Rolla Health and Rehabilitation Suites.
Roberta moved to Licking with her father and seven siblings following the death of her mother when she was twelve years of age. She enjoyed school and had hoped to be a teacher. Throughout the years, she entertained family and friends with poems, songs and stories from her earlier years.
She was married at age sixteen to Melvin Max Dixon on March 4, 1943. When Melvin was called to military duty, she began working at the Rawlings Factory. In later years, she worked as a nurses’ aide.
She enjoyed cooking, sewing, and serving the Lord. She was baptized into Christ in her early twenties and was a faithful member of the Licking Church of Christ.
Roberta is preceded in death by her husband, Melvin; her parents; her brothers, Roy, Fred and Bob; and her sisters, Helen and Mae. She is survived by her children, Norman Dixon (wife, Alta), Larry Dixon (wife, Sandra), Mary Jurgensmeyer and Joyce Wilson (husband, Rick); also several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; many friends and her beloved dog, Dolly.
