Obituary of Elroy W Schultz

Elroy William Lewis Schultz, age 89 passed away at his home in Licking Missouri surrounded by his family on Saturday, November 10, 2018. 

Elroy was born on July 27, 1929 in Faribault, MN to Otto Fredrick Schultz and Lydia Alma (Haust) Schultz of Webster, MN.  Elroy was the oldest of four children.  He was baptized at St. John’s Lutheran church in 1929.  He was also confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in 1943.  Elroy attended school in Webster, MN until the 8^th grade.

Elroy received a diploma from the Tractor Training Service in 1952.  He served in the United States Army where he was deployed to Korea in 1953/54.  He worked his way up to be a Supply Sergeant.  After his time spent in the military, Elroy returned to Minnesota where he worked at Dingman‘s, K&G, and his 23 years at Northfield Foundry and Machine until he retired in 1990.  After retirement, Elroy and Berna Dean moved to Licking, MO where they lived until his passing.  During that time, Elroy would spend time doing projects of his liking (woodworking, repairs, etc.), which was always of the highest quality.  Elroy and Berna Dean made yearly trips to Minnesota and for several years, they made trips to North Dakota to help a family friend do field work.  They enjoyed many years of various travels in their 5^th wheel. 

He is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years, Berna Dean, four children, Rhonda (Bruce) Faucett of Columbia, MO, Debra (Michael) Krites of Champaign, IL, Leroy (Barb) Lane of Licking, MO, and David (Jennifer) Schultz of Nerstrand, MN, son of Catherine Schultz Phillips of Faribault, MN.  Elroy is also survived by two sisters and a brother -- Nordis [Sue] (Gene) Kendrick of Coon Rapids, MN, Oda (Darwin) Schultz of St. Louis Park, MN and Orville (Barb) Schultz of Webster, MN, and nine grandchildren along with several great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 15, 2018 from 5:00-7:00 PM at Fox Funeral Home, 128 S Main St, Licking.  Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 16, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 1419 S Sam Houston Blvd, Houston, with Pastor David Kettner officiating.  Pallbearers are Austin Schultz, Alex Schultz, Matt Groh, Eric Radmer, Derek Dawson, and JJ Ramsey.  Interment will be at Shafer Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Licking Bridge Builders Senior Center or Hospice Compassus.  Arrangements entrusted to Fox Funeral Home, Licking, MO.  Online condolences may be left at www.foxfh.net.
