I met Ken at the University of Missouri in the 60s. We hit if off immediately. Because I ended up living in Columbia we got together when he was living here in the summer working on his advanced degrees. When I was living in St. Louis he was working at a school across the Mississippi in Dupo, IL. Somehow we each found the other to be tremendously entertaining, in our own unique way, over some five decades. Ken lived a good life and leaves behind successful sons, grandchildren and a devoted wife -- and many grieving friends.

From the first grade to Senior year, I had a mad crush on Dewayne. After hearing of his passing and recovering from grief, I reflected on why was I so enamored? I loved the fact that Dewayne was smart and attractive, and in retrospect, it was mostly that he was such a nice person. He had a strong work ethic, which I admired. He was a great role model for his boys leading them to be successful.
In our high school Junior play, Dewayne and I played the two leading roles. He had to wear knickers, and he didn't care much for that, but he was well cast for the part, and was adorable. I somehow got a date with him to the Junior prom. :)
With all of this being said, Dewayne met his Deborah, and she was the love of his life. (40 years!!)
Dewayne will be missed, but I am happy he had such a wonderful life.
