Obituary of Fred Ray Boswell
Please share a memory of Fred to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Fred Ray Boswell, age 86, son of Ivan F. Boswell and Alta M. Boswell, was born on September 9, 1937, at home, in rural Taney County, MO. He passed away in his sleep and went to be with the Lord on May, 2. 2024.
Fred is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Edna M. Boswell; wife, Monteha (Monti) Woltman; wife, Norma Jaeger; and 3 brothers, Danny, Edward, and Gordon.
He is survived by his daughter, Regina Boswell, and son in law, Peter Kosinski of Edgar Springs, MO; bonus daughter and son in law, Kathy and Mike Shallcross; 4 grandsons: Aiden, Jared, Andrew and Kyle Shallcross; 3 great granddaughters, Vera Kosinski, Abigail Kosinski, Brooklyn Vaughn; great grandson, Elisha Kosinski; 3 brothers: Bob, Bruce and Randy; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Fred married Edna (Eddie) on August 15, 1959 in Carson City, Nevada after only knowing each other for one month. Eight years later their daughter was born. Their first purchased home was on Frank Ct., Sacramento, CA. They eventually bought property on Quince Ln, Wilton, CA and together with his brothers, he built his new home for his family. Fred and Eddie raised their daughter on a small hobby farm with cows, chickens, ducks, dogs, pigeons, rabbits, a pony at one point, and then a horse. Fred and his wife Eddie lived in the home until she passed from cancer in 1999. They loved camping and went as often as they could in what is now called a vintage truck camper on the old blue Chevy pick-up truck. They played golf, softball, volleyball, and were on bowling leagues together for many years. Fred coached his daughter’s softball team on several occasions, and they were there for her at every ball game from 4th grade to Senior year in High School. They loved to host parties and family get togethers at their home in Wilton. They played cards and board games with friends and family nearly every weekend for many years. However, Fred’s true love was golf, and he continued to play golf with his brothers, Bob and Bruce, until around 82 years of age.
In Fred’s early years in life, his parents split up and all the boys were left with their father, who was a truck driver and could not care for all of them. Fred and several of his brothers went to a self-sufficient boarding school in Branson, the School of The Ozarks. He used to love to tell stories of his life and mentioned that he would have to milk cows and do farm labor to earn his keep. He was kicked out of school for fighting his senior year and immediately joined the Navy. He proudly served our country for 3 years with an honorable discharge as a Boiler Operator II. He went on to become a plumber, working for Lawson Mechanical with brother’s Bob, Gordon and eventually his nephew Craig. He was a member of the UA Local Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Union for 65 years.
Fred never met a stranger in his life and would talk to anyone who would listen and engage in conversation. He had the gift of gab, often times leaving his daughter to tug on his shirt when she was little, to tell him that they needed to go, or else mom was going to be mad. Most importantly, he loved Jesus and his family bigger than the whole world, especially his grandson, Aiden and his son in law, Peter Kosinski. Dad, you are missed immensely by me, your friends and family. We hope you are getting many Double Eagles in Heaven.
Friends and family will be notified when the grave side burial will take place at the Elk Grove Cemetery and when a gathering will be held and Craig and Lupita’s home.
