Obituary of Arlene Clouse

Please share a memory of Arlene to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Arlene Kissiar Clouse passed away peacefully on Monday, September 2, 2024, in Licking, Missouri, the town where she spent the majority of her life. She was born on November 17, 1929, the daughter of Roy and Mabel Kissiar (Fisher) and sister to Leon, Wesley, Donald, and Myrna. She spent her childhood in Red Bud, Illinois, a community that always held a special place in her heart. While a teenager, she moved to Licking, Missouri. She would make this rural town her home for the next several decades. During that time, she served as the county’s Recorder of Deeds and volunteered at the polls every election day. She loved traveling, venturing to Europe in 1996 with her granddaughters. She was an avid reader and passed her love of reading down to her family members. She was a self-taught pianist who spent years playing piano for the local United Methodist Church. She was a member of Query Club and an active member of the community. She married her high school sweetheart, Dorris Clouse, on December 18, 1948. A few short years later, their son Charles was born, followed just a few years later by the birth of Michael. Arlene was known for her hospitality. She loved entertaining friends and family. She was an award-winning home chef, who could decipher all of a recipe's ingredients with just a small taste. Her double-baked potatoes, eggnog, and homemade vanilla ice cream recipes will be passed down for generations! She was talented in a variety of crafts and was an expert seamstress. She also enjoyed gardening and for several years had a garden that produced an abundance of food, all of which she happily shared with others. Arlene is preceded in death by her husband of 75 years, Dorris Clouse. She leaves behind her two sons, Charles and Michael; daughter-in-law Sandra; three grandchildren (Anne, Tyler, and Darby); and six great-grandchildren (Vivien, Oaklee, Winter, Harlee, Teddy, Cooper). Arlene loved her husband and she loved her family. She made her community better and valued her friends. She lived a good life and will always be remembered by those who knew and loved her. A visitation will take place from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Fox Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 12:00 PM at Boone Creek Cemetery. Pallbearers are Tyler and Darby Clouse, Dean Cowell, Tommy Medlock, Rob Haneline, and Leroy Lane. Honorary Pallbearers are Larry Van Deusen, Jake Green, Dakota Crow, Wes Kovachik, and Bryon Kinder.
